Project description and objectives:

The POLIAPIG project aims to investigate the use of Artificial Intelligence in an experimental farm as a tool to monitor the improvement of health in piglets fed with wine by-products rich in polyphenols. The project will validate the generation of new products with a clear new functionality, such as the use of pomace as a functional food capable of improving the yields obtained in pig production.

At the same time, it is expected to improve the efficiency and environmental sustainability of the participating companies, favoring the reuse and recovery of by-products in the case of wine production and reducing the use of antimicrobials such as antibiotics and zinc oxide in the case of pig production.

The objective of the project, therefore, is the design and development of a data capture and processing system based on artificial intelligence that allows the comparison of normal production data with that of a diet rich in polyphenols from wine by-products.

The POLIAPIG project is included in the framework of the aid for AEIS Innovative Business Associations 2022. The consortium is led by the Catalan Vitivinícola Cluster (INNOVI) with the participation of the Aragonese Food Cluster (ARAGON INNOVALIMEN), the companies in the pig sector CUARTE SL, UNIÓ FRUITS, SCCL and the technology company IA SAPIENS INNOVATION SL.

The Clusters participating in the project will disseminate the technology and the results obtained to their associates with similar problems.
