Launch of the second phase of the VIDVOLT4.0 Project
The VIDVOLT4.0-F2 project consortium held its initial meeting on October 11. Coordinated by INNOVI and with the participation of CEEC, Km0, Ibermática, the Aragón Food and Nutrition Cluster, Inderen, and Huerto Tornasol, this project aims to facilitate the implementation of agrovoltaic technology in the viticulture sector. Agrovoltaic technology is a highly innovative and versatile solution that represents the perfect symbiosis between solar photovoltaic energy production and wine production, generating a positive environmental and socio-economic impact, contributing to the development of a more sustainable, competitive, and resilient viticulture model in the face of climate change.
In the first phase of the project, a digital twin was developed to improve vineyard crop performance, allowing tracking, prescription, and optimization of both solar photovoltaic energy production and agronomic production. In the second phase of the project, a decision-making system will be implemented based on Artificial Intelligence technologies, using as a source the data obtained from the measurement and control devices planned for execution in this project.
The project will research and validate the use of agrovoltaic systems as an innovative solution to achieve a smarter and more competitive grape production model. Additionally, VIDVOLT4.0-F2 will also contribute to improving the environmental sustainability of agricultural production, reducing CO2 emissions associated with crop production.
Phase 2 of the VIDVOLT Project has received support from the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Tourism, within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan, under the 2023 call for grants for Innovative Business Clusters, with the aim of improving the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises.
