DIGITOMATE. Phase II: Digital transformation for sustainability management in agricultural operations: digitalization, sensors, and modeling of the tomato campaign.

Recently, the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Tourism (MINCOTUR) approved funding for the second phase of the AEI – DIGITOMATE Project, aimed at the digital transformation of the sector to optimize and reduce inputs and environmental footprint in tomato cultivation. Through the digitalization of resource management processes and sectoral transfer, the foundations will be established for a sustainable tomato management system.

Based on the results obtained in the first phase of the project, the goal is to develop a transferable and advanced data management model for agricultural operations, aiming to model the use of dynamic fertilization and water balance systems. This will enable resource optimization through innovative low-cost sensors and the integration of data into the cloud within an agricultural management software system.

The DIGITOMATE project is part of the 2023 AEIs (Innovative Business Clusters) aid program and is funded by the European Union’s Recovery and Resilience Mechanism. In this case, the consortium is led by the NAGRIFOOD Agri-Food Cluster (Navarra), the Navarrese agri-food company GRUPO AN, the professional agricultural organization Unión de Agricultores y Ganaderos de Navarra (UAGN), and the technology SMEs I3I (Navarra) and SMART LEAN SOLUTIONS (Navarra). Additionally, it has the collaboration of ARAGÓN INNOVALIMENT (Aragonese Food Cluster). The clusters will disseminate the technology and results obtained to their members facing similar challenges.
